Wide board timber flooring is much sought after for its grand and luxurious beauty.
When specifying a wide board floor, keep in mind that timber is a natural, hydroscopic material - it will lose or gain moisture to retain equilibrium with the humidity and temperature of the surrounding air. The usual possibility of timber shrinkage and expansion is magnified with wider boards, which may result in cupping across the board or slightly larger gaps between boards.
